Cuba is hot. So hot that there are reports some of the major hotels in places like Trinidad and Cienfuegos are moving their European clients to lesser properties to make room for all of the Americans trying to book. What does this mean for nonrev’s? Well don’t expect many, if any, interline rates at properties in Cuba any time soon.
In fact some forecasts call for Cuba not to have enough hotel rooms well into 2020. It takes a long time in Cuba to build new properties due to the shortage of construction material and the government red tape.
This is why cruises are expected to be popular, and full, for the next several years going to Cuba. Even they will be held back by the lack of infrastructure to handle the crowds.
So your best bet on a decent room in Cuba?
Why? You can’t beat their prices and lots of options in almost any city you want to visit. Here is an example and this room at the time of this post was a whopping $39 a night! Yes, room only for 2 people. In central Havana!
This cozy private lodging is located in a beautiful part of Habana. Just two blocks away from Plaza Vieja, the place recognized as the heart of Havana and historic heritage. Here you will find many interesting places such as The Cathedral of Habana, The Castle of Morro, Castle of Royal Force, La Plaza de Armas, Plaza de San Francisco, The Capitol of Habana and also the renowned restaurant La bodeguita del medio, El Floridita, The Rum Palace, Partagas Cigars Factory. Everything is located walkable distance. Just 15 minutes away you will find the beautiful beaches of Habana, there you will find sun, music and party.
and the cost is just $39 a night. You get to stay and meet local’s and really get to know the destination.
To book you just need to open up an account at AirBnB and then enter your dates, look over your options and book.
Outside of an organized escorted tour or a cruise, this is going to be, in our opinion, the best way to a nonrev to see and visit Cuba at the most affordable price.
If any resorts or hotels open up interline rates we will let you know, post them on our site and email them out to everyone on our email list.
